Rounding down salary: a tiny gesture with a big impact!
With almost €55,000 raised in 2023/2024(1), the “rounding-down salary” initiative has once again demonstrated the generosity and commitment of our Servier employees in France. Thanks to this amount, three partner nonprofit organizations of Mécénat Servier were able to fund solidarity actions aimed at people in difficulty: L’ENVOL, the ACTION ENFANCE Foundation and the Maison de Parents Ferdinand Foch. Because every action counts, we give Servier employees in France the opportunity to make a micro-donation every month by paying the cents of their salary and, possibly, an additional 1 to 10 euros, to a public interest organization. It’s a simple and efficient system, developed by microDON.
“At Servier, employee commitment can take many forms. Some people want to go on an international assignment, other people want to spend a day with a nonprofit organization, and finally others don’t have the time or inclination for such actions and prefer to donate anonymously. This is why we implemented rounding-down salary(2). We wanted to let everyone get involved, at their own level, to complement our actions with partner nonprofit organizations. And it’s obvious that this initiative met with a warm welcome upon its launch! Furthermore, we match donations with an equivalent amount, which increases the generosity of employees.”

During the 2023/2024 financial year, 874 Servier donors in France showed their solidarity by rounding up their pay slips, representing a participation rate of 18%, which is stable compared to past years. Overall, more than €27,000(3) was donated, which was topped up to over €54,000(4) after a matching contribution from Mécénat Servier.
Funding programs for sick children
The nonprofit organization L’ENVOL offers a psychosocial health program, as well as their medical treatment, to children and adolescents facing the challenge of illness.
“This initiative is highly significant for our nonprofit organization! Since 2020, at least €20,000 has been donated each year to L’ENVOL through rounding-down salary, which helps cover the costs of medical stays for 10 children. With this support, some forty children have regained strength and confidence in the face of illness by enjoying a stay. With over €25,000 raised, the last financial year was a record year for L’ENVOL. Which is great timing, since our nonprofit organization is also going to break its record for number of beneficiaries by helping more than 8,000 sick children and their caregivers in 2024. Hospital stays, workshops, individual activity kits for hospitalized children, but also recreational outings, including more than 1,300 tickets obtained for the Olympic and Paralympic Games… All programs have been enhanced. It’s been a wonderful year and we’d like to thank the generous employees of Servier France from the bottom of our hearts.”

Helping young people to build their futures
ACTION ENFANCE protects children in danger by looking after children and adolescents entrusted by the youth court judge.
“Mécénat Servier has been supporting the ACTION ENFANCE Foundation since 2018, and notably the ACTION+ initiative, which accompanies young people on the path to independence and helps them to build a professional and personal future. Rounding-down salary contributes to this support. In 2023, 173 young adults were supported and 404 projects were created for them, particularly in the areas of training and housing, or employment. Support from the ACTION ENFANCE Foundation is crucial for all these young people and many others. And to keep it going, we need donations like those made by Servier France employees through rounding-down salary.. Your support is valuable to us and we thank you! ”

Accommodating the families of people in hospital
The Maison de Parents Ferdinand Foch nonprofit looks after patients and their families during hospitalization or outpatient care.
“To finance our actions towards the families of hospitalized people, we need support and Mécénat Servier has always been by our side, whether through a financial donation, the commitment of Servier employees during solidarity missions or, for three years, rounding-down salary. In the first year, the money collected through rounding-down salary made it possible to repaint a room. For two years, we’ve been using it to offset the rise in energy prices. This partnership is particularly important to us, because it testifies to a double involvement: that of Servier employees, but also that of Mécénat Servier, which provides additional donations. The cause of accompanying persons is too rarely supported by companies and so the support of Mécénat Servier is all the more appreciated.
