World NGO Day 2026: Acting together, on the ground

On February 27, World NGO Day highlights the vital role of international solidarity organizations. On this occasion, Mécénat Servier will focus on its partnership with the nonprofit organization Acted in Ukraine and Myanmar to restore healthcare facilities damaged by conflicts or natural disasters.

In a world where inequalities and humanitarian crises are intensifying, we are committed for the long term to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable populations, alongside partner organizations present on the ground. Within this framework, the partnership with Acted arose in 2025 to support vulnerable communities facing major crises.

Mécénat Servier’s commitment provides funding to support concrete actions in two countries:

  • In Ukraine, Acted is rehabilitating 3 medical facilities: a research laboratory in Chernihiv, the rehabilitation area and infectious disease center of Novhorod-Siverskyi Hospital, and Konotop Hospital. The support of Mécénat Servier allows Acted to carry out the necessary repairs to allow patients to be treated under dignified and safe conditions. The work includes, for example, replacing the roof of the building, installing new windows, installing a photovoltaic power plant, restoring sanitary areas, and so on.
  • In Myanmar, Acted is restoring 8 medical facilities that were destroyed or partially damaged after the earthquake. The work includes, for example, reactivating electrical systems and restoring roofs and walls.

One year later, the doors reopened and healthcare teams were reunited with their patients. Some projects were completed; others were nearing completion.

The Panam Charity Health Clinic fully restored in Myanmar

The restoration of a research laboratory in Chernihiv was fully completed in October 2025. In Novhorod-Siverskyi, work on the rehabilitation space and the infectious disease center should be finalized in the coming weeks. In Konotop, the restoration of the hospital is almost complete. In Myanmar, four of the eight clinics have been fully restored and the rest are expected to be restored by March 2026.

The success of these projects is the result of a solid partnership, rooted in strong values: transparency, responsiveness and exchanges on the ground with the Servier teams who are involved in our actions. An inauguration was held in Myanmar last February for the opening of a rehabilitated clinic, and a visit is being prepared in Ukraine. We also share a strong strategic alignment, centered on respect for communities as well as the desire to save lives and to carry out effective actions as sustainably as possible.

Like Acted, many NGOs receive support from Mécénat Servier to act on the ground, alongside those facing crises, both in emergencies and reconstruction.

Acted in brief

Founded in 1993, Acted is a French international solidarity NGO whose mission is to save lives and help populations to meet their needs in hard-to-reach areas. Operating in 43 countries, Acted has supported 18.5 million people through 528 emergency and development projects in 2024.
Endowed with a three-fold humanitarian, environmental and development mandate, Acted designs and implements sustainable actions based on in-depth knowledge of the regions and a network of local and international partners. It thus pursues a common goal: to build a 3ZERO world, based on zero exclusion, zero carbon and zero poverty.
